Laurie Hodges, On Premise Speciaist

Laurie HodgesLaurie Hodges has been selling wine to restaurants in Texas for many years. Her former employers include American Wine & Importing, Longhorn Liquors Ltd., Quality Beverage and Horizon Wines. Laurie is a Certified Specialist of Wine from the Society of Wine Educators and a first level Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers. She has been the Director of Fine Wines, On Premise, for Sigel’s since April of 2002.

What I like best about working for Sigel’s:

The people I get to work with. They are hard working and professional. From the order department to billing to the warehouse to delivery, everyone strives to make sure the orders are right. The wine department handles incredibly large wine lists for major restaurants with ease and versatility. Accounts receivable insures that customers don’t get into trouble with the TABC. Upper Management makes great decisions about which wines we should represent. All of these people help me do my job, happily and efficiently.

My favorite memory from my last 3 years with Sigel’s:

Working with the new owner of a small restaurant, putting together the wine list. We tasted and matched the wines with the menu, decided the best descriptions for each wine and wrote the final wine list. We designed a simple wine list on my laptop and printed it on cardstock. Now we update the list as needed and reprint with ease, anytime it’s needed.
